Apple ने iPad Air को  नए डिज़ाइन, बड़े डिस्प्ले और पावरफुल नए प्रोसेसर के साथ आता है। नए iPad Air (4th Gen) में iPad Pro  और कीमत भी प्रो मॉडल की तुलना में कम है। नए आईपैड एयर को पांच रंगों में उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा- सिल्वर, स्पेस ग्रे, रोज़ गोल्ड, ग्रीन और स्काई ब्लू। वाई-फाई 64 जीबी स्टोरेज मॉडल की कीमत 54,900 रुपये है, जबकि 256 जीबी मॉडल को 68,900 रुपये में खरीदा जा सकेगा। दूसरी तरफ, सेल्युलर 64 जीबी मॉडल का दाम 66,900 रुपये है और इस वेरिएंट का 256 जीबी मॉडल 80,900 रुपये में बिकेगा।

इसमें 10.9 इंच की होमस्क्रीन है, लेकिन कोई फिज़िकल बटन नहीं है। फेसआईडी कैमरे की जगह टच आईडी फिंगरप्रिंट सेंसर दिया गया है। सेंसर को पावर/ स्टेंडबाय  बटन में इंटिग्रेट किया गया है। किनारे फ्लैट हैं।

Apple का दावा है कि आईपैड एयर में इस्तेमाल किया गया लिक्विड रेटिना डिस्प्ले एंटी रिफ्लेक्टिव कोटिंग से पूरी तरह से लेमिनेटेड है। इसका रिजॉल्यूशन 2360x1640 पिक्सल है। यह पी3 वाइड कलर गैमट और ऐप्पल के ट्रू टोन कलर एडजस्टमेंट फीचर को सपोर्ट करता है।

नया ऐप्पल ए14 बायोनिक प्रोसेसर का इस्तेमाल iPad Air (4th Gen) में हुआ है। दावा है कि यह पुराने जेनरेशन वाले प्रोसेसर की तुलना में 40 प्रतिशत बेहतर सीपीयू परफॉर्मेंस और 30 प्रतिशत तेज़ ग्राफिक्स परफॉर्मेंस देगा।

नए आईपैड एयर में यूएसबी टाइप-सी पोर्ट दिया गया है, ना कि ऐप्पल का लाइटनिंग कनेक्टर। डेटा ट्रांसफर की स्पीड 5 जीबीपीएस तक जाएगी। नया आईपैड एयर टाइप-सी पोर्ट के ज़रिए एक्सटर्नल स्टोरेज डिवाइस और 4K मॉनीटर तक को सपोर्ट करता है।

अन्य फीचर्स की बात करें तो आईपैड एयर (फोर्थ जेन) में स्टीरियो स्पीकर्स, एक 7 मेगापिक्सल का फ्रंट कैमरा और एक 12 मेगापिक्सल का रियर कैमरा दिया गया है। फ्रंट कैमरा 1080 पिक्सल वीडियो रिकॉर्डिंग में सक्षम है। रियर कैमरा आईपैड प्रो वाला ही है। यानी यह भी फोकस पिक्सल और स्टेबलाइज़्ड 4K वीडियो रिकॉर्डिंग को सपोर्ट करता है। नया आईपैड एयर सेकेंड जेन ऐप्पल पेंसिल को सपोर्ट करता है। इसमें एक मैगनेटिक कनेक्टर भी है जिसके ज़रिए पेंसिल को चार्ज या स्टोर किया जा सकेगा। नया टैबलेट ऐप्पल के मैजिक कीबोर्ड के साथ भी काम करेगा।

Apple ने एंट्री लेवल आईपैड लाइन अप को भी रिफ्रेश किया है। इसके वाई-फाई वर्ज़न के 32 जीबी और 128 जीबी स्टोरेज वेरिेएंट की कीमत क्रमशः  29,900 रुपये और 37,900 रुपये है। इसी स्टोरेज क्षमता वाले सेल्युलर मॉडल के दाम क्रमशः 41,900 रुपये और 49,900 रुपये हैं। इसे जल्द ही सिल्वर, स्पेस ग्रे और रोज़ गोल्ड रंग में उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा, लेकिन तारीख का खुलासा अभी नहीं हुआ है। Apple का कहना है कि iPad अब तक का सबसे सफल कंज़्यूमर प्रोडक्ट है। 500 मिलियन से ज़्यादा यूनिट अब तक बिक चुके हैं।

नए iPad (8th Gen) में Apple के क्लासिक आईपैड डिज़ाइन को बरकरार रखा गया है। आपको 10.2 इंच रेटिना डिस्प्ले के साथ फिज़िकल होम बटन मिलेगा। इसमें ए12 बायोनिक प्रोसेसर का इस्तेमाल किया गया है जिसके बारे में पुराने जेनरेशन के प्रोसेसर की तुलना में 40 प्रतिशत तेज़ परफॉर्मेंस देने का दावा है।

नया आईपैड (एट्थ जेन), ऐप्पल और थर्ड पार्टी कीबोर्ड एक्सेसरीज़ को सपोर्ट करता है। इसके अलावा नोट्स और स्केचिंग के लिए फर्स्ट जेन ऐप्पल पेंसिल के लिए भी सपोर्ट है। यह 8 मेगापिक्सल के रियर कैमरे और 1.2 मेगापिक्सल के फ्रंट कैमरे से लैस है। इस मॉडल में अब भी लाइटनिंग कनेक्टर दिया गया है।

दोनों ही आईपैड मॉडल आउट ऑफ बॉक्स iPadOS 14 के साथ आएंगे। इस सॉफ्टवेयर को पुराने आईपैड मॉडल्स के लिए 16 सितंबर को रिलीज कर दिया जाएगा। इसके साथ Apple ने नई Apple Watch Series 6 और Apple Watch SE को भी लॉन्च किया है। Apple One सब्सक्रिप्शन बंडल का भी खुलासा हुआ है।

लिक्विड रेटिना डिस्प्ले एंटी रिफ्लेक्टिव कोटिंग से पूरी तरह से लेमिनेटेड है। इसका रिजॉल्यूशन 2360x1640 पिक्सल है।
